Celbridge U-15 and U-13 badminton teams win Dublin Badminton League
Celbridge Badminton Boys Under-15 and Boys Under-13 teams both have won the Dublin Badminton League, beating off Fierc competition.
Both teams met the Under-15 and Under-13 Confey badminton teams in the finals which took place on Saturday 8th March 2003 in Baldoyle Badminton Centre.
The Celbridge Under-15 team, comprising of Glenn Mahon (Captain), Connor Hutton, Geoff Haughton, Eoin Doyle, and Paul Sheehan (Sub), put up a great display of skills as they defeated the Confey side 4-1.
And the Under-13 Celbridge Boys team also beat Confey Under-13's 6-0.
The Under-13 Celbridge team comprises of David Malone (Captain), David Keegan, Gavin Barry, Sean Flynn, and Daniel Butler (Sub).
Coached by Kitty Harvey and Declan Malone, the juvenile section of the club has nearly 50 members ranging in ages from eight years to fifteen years.
"We have had a lot of success in the past five years in league matches," said Kitty Harvey, junior coach.
"And we are delighted with our Boys Under-13 and Boys Under-15 teams for winning the Dublin Badminton League. The teams are also thrilled to have won the titles."
The Celbridge Junior Club members meet every saturday from 4.30pm to 6.00pm in the Celbridge GA clubhouse and new members are always welcome.
